René Magritte - The Photographs
NEW YORK
November 23, 2017 - January 30, 2018

Never exhibited in public in his lifetime, Magritte's playful images bear the motifs of his paintings. The photographs and films of René Magritte came to light in the mid-1970s, more than ten years after the Surrealist artist’s death. The discovery of these gem-like treasures has led to a deeper understanding of the close relationship Magritte maintained with photography. They reveal how he used these tools to experiment with his ideas, while providing rare access to an informal side of the artist and those with whom he surrounded himself.

Bruce Silverstein Gallery is a photographic art gallery in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, New York City. It was started in 2001 by Bruce Silverstein. The gallery is a member of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers.
